SNAPSO is an acronym for Special Needs Adult Program Services Organization.  Our primary purpose is to provide day support services for developmentally disabled adults.  We also provide management, counseling and other support services to assist people with disabilities to become more independent in the community.  As our staff and participants integrate into the community we are continually educating the public regarding the special needs and abilities of people living with a developmental disability.

Our program operates under a strict framework of policies and procedures, employing a 3 to 1 supervision ratio to ensure safety and equality for all.  The programs offered are a wide variety of community integration opportunities, recreation and life skills programs.

SNAPSO also monitors the current residential options for individuals and meets with families and interest groups in an attempt to identify innovative housing solutions for the future.

SNAPSO Day Program provides service to over 30 individuals. Individual programs are determined according to expressed or demonstrated likes and dislikes and includes input from families as well. Weekly activity schedules are prepared and distributed to all participants 1 week in advance.

Participants take part in fitness activities such as sports, swimming and exercising and visit many public facilities to participate in a wide variety of activities. Transportation to individual programs is provided by staff and two SNAPSO wheelchair accessible vehicles.

Registration in the program is done on an annual basis. Participants have the flexibility of registering for single or multiple days per week consistent through-out the year dependent upon available space. Every effort is made by staff to continually find new places to go, new experiences to have and ensure all community programming is inclusive.

A daily user fee is in place to help cover the cost of programming but all fees are subsidized by the charity. Our main funding sources are corporate and personal donations as well as fundraising.
